Hello February! Amazing how time flies, isn’t it. January was just gobbled up. It will be 2014 before we know it.
The release went a bit better than I expected. I’m still torn between shouting it from the rooftops, and hiding in a hole, not telling anyone and wishing I’d published it under a super-secret pen name.
I’ve travelled the middle-road so far. I’ve told my immediate family, and a few close friends and had about 20 sales. In a few weeks I might announce it more widely. We’ll see. Like I said, I keep fluctuating.
I’m pretty sure some strangers have bought my book – I haven’t told 20 people, and two people have ‘borrowed’ it and I don’t know anyone who has Amazon Prime! That is a pretty awesome feeling š
I’ve had a great reaction from my family, but that’s to be expected, isn’t it? My father and brother both agreed that they were thankful there were no sex scenes.
If I ever publish any erotica – or even romance, I’ll make sure never to tell them. š
Some of my friends have been very enthusiastic and supportive. Others, not so much… but hey, the important ones have been great!
I initially enrolled it in Select, but now I’m kicking myself a bit. Most of my sales are in Australia. I only get 35% of royalties from Amazon for Australian sales. Kobo, however, gives me 70% of Australian sales.Ā I’m not sure yet if I’ll use any of the Select free days. We’ll see how the borrows go (so far I’ve had 2), but I’m pretty sure I won’t be renewing Select.
I’m trying to wean myself from logging into KDP so often – ideally I’d like to check sales just once a week… not the 20+ times a day that I’m doing at the moment! It’s so tempting though!
